The full stable production release is targeted for sometime in 2027. Until then you're part of an active development community, helping us build something that works.
If you're a mum or dad with offspring under 18 living in your household, your offspring are included in your membership at no extra cost. Each gets their own ETC account with restricted access designed for under-18s:
One membership covers all your offspring under 18. If both mum and dad want their own access, each adult needs their own membership — each adult's membership independently covers the same offspring at no extra cost.
You need to be introduced or vouched for by an existing member. Once introduced, you start at Probationary trust level and can explore the platform. Earn vouches from members who know you personally to progress to Vouched status and unlock full participation.
Alternatively, during the launch phase you can join the waitlist and one of the Founding Members will introduce you when the beta opens.
As a Probationary member, you can view public content, receive messages, browse the marketplace, view the community map, and receive emergency alerts. You have a maximum of 30 days to receive your first vouch or introduction before the account is deactivated.
Once you receive your first introduction and reach Level 2 (Introduced), you unlock your UP wallet for trade amongst members, can send basic 1:1 messages, join groups, and create 1 event per month (included).
Once you reach Vouched (your first vouch — Level 3), you can send messages to groups, sell on the marketplace, vote in governance, and take courses.
ETC works on iOS, Android, web browsers, and desktop (Windows, Mac, Linux). The app syncs across all your devices. The offline-first design means you can use it even without internet — everything synchronises automatically when connectivity returns.
ETC is structured as a Private Members Association — built by members, governed by members, and run for their benefit through democratic voting and elected juries. Unlike corporate platforms:
Members who know you personally can vouch for you, staking their own reputation on your good conduct. The trust level progression is:
Crucially: if you vouch for someone who turns out to be a bot or fake account, you will be removed from the community. Vouching carries full accountability. Introducing someone is lower-stakes — but vouching is a serious commitment. Your word is your bond.
Annual renewal: Vouches must be actively renewed each year. Thirty days before the anniversary, both the voucher and the vouchee receive reminders. The voucher must confirm they still vouch for the man or woman — otherwise the vouch expires and the accountability link is removed.
Yes, but a business is always the responsibility of one named member — a man or woman who is personally accountable for the organisation's conduct on the platform.
Employees can be added as dependants with restricted business-only access. If an employee is also a personal member independently, they hold two separate roles — one as an employee with business access, and one as their personal self with full personal member access.
Yes. Dependants join under guardianship with age-appropriate restrictions — young offspring have no messaging with strangers and no marketplace access, with restrictions progressively relaxing for older offspring.
Both mum and dad can be linked as guardians. At 18, the account converts to full individual membership with a 90-day grace period. The guardian's vouch counts as the young adult's first vouch on conversion.
The gender declaration for offspring is a guardian decision and is not required.
ETC is a community of real men and women, boys and girls. When you join, you declare whether you are a man or a woman. This is part of your membership record and trust chain.
The available options are: Man, Woman, Trans man, Trans woman. This declaration is part of what makes the community real and accountable.
You have a 7-day grace period after your renewal date. During this period you retain full access but receive daily reminders. After the grace period, your access is reduced to Probationary level until you reinstate your membership.
Every Vouched+ member can mint three types of referral code. Each carries a different level of accountability and a different entry point for the man or woman you're inviting:

The Membership Committee handles disputes. Consequences range from karma penalties to invite-privilege restrictions to expulsion for deliberate abuse.
ETC membership starts from £4/month. The base membership includes the complete feature set at basic capacity limits — 1 marketplace listing, 1 event per month, take any course, vote in governance, a UP wallet for trade amongst members, and basic messaging.
On top of that, you can add feature modules as you need them — paying only for what you use. This is the "pick-and-mix" model. Use the plan builder to configure your own plan.

ETC accepts ten payment methods across four priority tiers:
You can combine payment methods in a single transaction — for example, 70% Unity Pounds and 30% bank transfer.
Community currencies like Unity Pounds and LETS credits keep value circulating within your community rather than flowing to external payment processors and corporate shareholders. The 10% discount is an intentional incentive to strengthen local economies — it is not just a payment discount, it is a values statement.
Yes. Annual billing gives you 2 months free (equivalent to ~17% off). A 3-year commitment gives an additional 10% off the annual rate.
We are also exploring an ETC Credits system — bulk purchase of credits at a volume discount, which can be used for membership fees, UP top-ups, and other platform payments. Details will be announced at launch.
Yes. Messages are encrypted on your device using industry-standard protocols before transmission. The encryption keys exist only on the sender's and recipient's devices — never on our servers.
Even if our servers were completely compromised, your messages could not be read. This is an architectural decision, not a policy promise. We technically cannot read your messages.
Yes, at any time, in standard formats. Data sovereignty is a core principle — your data belongs to you, not the platform. If you leave, you take everything with you.
Every member can export their personal data at any time under GDPR rights. Higher tier members get structured CSV/JSON exports and scheduled automated backups.
Yes. ETC is designed with data minimisation, purpose limitation, and data subject rights at its core. The marketing website sets no cookies and collects no data passively. You can access, rectify, and delete your data at any time.
ETC operates as a Private Members Association. For UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 purposes, the data controller is the ETC PMA. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
ETC is moving toward full decentralisation in three phases:
All decentralisation features are included in every membership plan. No upsells.
Through 12-member juries randomly selected from eligible Full Members (Level 6 — those with 9 vouches, excellent karma, identity verification, and Founding Elders approval). Juries hear evidence, deliberate, and deliver binding decisions with a two-thirds majority. For expulsion or other life-changing sanctions, the decision must be unanimous. Appeals are heard by a separate 24-member jury.
The process is transparent, documented, and fair. No corporate moderators making unaccountable decisions behind closed doors.
Yes. Any member can submit a proposal. Proposals go through a public comment period where the community discusses and refines them, then are called to a binding vote. The entire discussion and rationale is preserved in a searchable archive.
The order and specifics of the development roadmap are also shaped by member governance. If the community decides home education tools are more urgent than video calls, that is what gets built next.
ETC has a two-tier governance structure: the Founding Elders at the top, and 5 Standing Committees handling delegated functions.
Founding Elders — the top-level governing body. They appoint committees, hold veto power over committee decisions, and are responsible for strategic governance and emergency powers. Membership is by invitation and is held for life unless voluntarily resigned.
The 5 Standing Committees:
Committee members are appointed by the Founding Elders from Full Members in good standing for at least 3 months. Committee size is 5–11 with 2-year staggered terms.
