A network of 40 independent practitioners — nutritionists, herbalists, yoga teachers, massage therapists, and naturopaths — wanted a private, professional space to refer clients, share resources, and run group learning. This is what they built.

The situation

Loosely connected, and ready for more

A network of 40 independent health practitioners — nutritionists, herbalists, yoga teachers, massage therapists, and naturopaths — had been loosely connected through a WhatsApp group and occasional face-to-face meetups. They wanted something more structured: a way to refer clients to each other, share professional resources, run group learning, and build a trusted local directory.

Privacy was paramount. Client discussions, even anonymised, needed to stay within the group. WhatsApp's data practices, and Facebook's even more so, were not suitable. They needed encrypted group spaces with clear member accountability.

How they use ETC

A professional community hub

The practitioner circle uses ETC as their professional community hub. The messaging tools give them encrypted practitioner-only group spaces for clinical discussions. The marketplace gives each practitioner a professional listing — clients from the wider community can find and book them directly.

The education tools let the practitioners run joint courses — a "Fundamentals of Herbal Medicine" course created by the herbalists and sold to community members. Revenue is split between contributors via Unity Pounds, with no platform extraction fee on the UP portion.

The events tools manage their monthly face-to-face meetups and quarterly public health fairs — with RSVP, payment, and volunteer coordination all through one tool.
